Oligio X vs Venus Viva MD: Two RF Treatments for Different Skin Goals

If the main problem is lax, less firm skin or a softer jawline, STC starts the conversation with Oligio X. If the concern is acne scarring, enlarged pores or uneven texture, we start with Venus Viva MD. Both use radiofrequency, but they are not direct substitutes.
Oligio X is a non-ablative monopolar RF platform. The NanoFractional RF applicator on Venus Viva MD creates fractional treatment zones for resurfacing, so the goal and recovery are different [1][2].
The decision-making difference
Choose by the tissue problem, not the shared RF label.
Question | Oligio X | Venus Viva MD |
Core system | Monopolar RF | NanoFractional RF resurfacing |
STC starting goal | Firmness and early laxity | Scars, pores and texture |
Skin surface | Generally remains intact | Redness and micro-crusting may occur |
Plan variables | Area, energy and heat | Density, energy and resurfacing level |
What if you have laxity and acne scars?
You may eventually use both, but the answer is not to stack devices without a reason. STC prioritises the concern changing your face most, then plans the second treatment around healing.
Oligio X does not release tethered acne scars, while Venus Viva MD should not be presented as a full-face monopolar tightening treatment.
What about thin or pigment-prone skin?
Fractional RF does not target melanin like a pigment laser, but inflammation can still trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Oligio X also requires conservative planning when facial volume is limited. We assess PIH history, skin sensitivity, cheek volume and acceptable downtime.
STC’s direct recommendation
Choose Oligio X when your question is about firmness and contour. Choose Venus Viva MD when it is about texture, pores or acne scars. If both questions apply, sequence them rather than expecting one device to solve everything.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Oligio X treat acne scars?
It is not our primary treatment for tethered or sharply edged scars. Its main role is broader skin firmness and collagen remodelling.
Does Venus Viva MD lift the face?
Collagen remodelling can improve firmness, but NanoFractional RF is primarily a resurfacing approach rather than a substitute for full-face monopolar RF.
Can both be done together?
They may be combined in selected plans, with deliberate sequencing, treatment zones and recovery—not as a requirement for everyone.
Tell STC which bothers you more: a loose contour or an uneven surface. That answer is more useful than choosing from the technology name alone.
