CO₂ laser can be used to remove selected moles or raised skin bumps with good local control, but the key decision is made before treatment. How does CO₂ laser remove a mole?
CO₂ laser energy is strongly absorbed by water in tissue. This allows the clinician to vaporise very small amounts of tissue in a controlled area, which can be useful for selected superficial or raised benign-appearing moles.
“Laser mole removal” is still a broad term. The right method depends on depth, location, appearance and whether tissue needs to be preserved for laboratory examination.
Which moles may be suitable?

Can a mole grow back after laser removal?
Yes, it can. If mole cells remain deeper in the skin, colour or a raised area may become visible again. Recurrence does not automatically mean something is dangerous, but a recurrent or changing mole should be reassessed.
